INTENSIVE PRODUCTION OF VEGETABLES AND FRUITS IN PROTECTED AREAS

On behalf of “AgroNET – Center for Education and Research” at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, we inform you that we have created the first specialist course in accordance with the expressed needs of producers, focusing on the topic “Intensive Production of Vegetables and Fruits in Protected Areas.”

The course “Intensive Production of Vegetables and Fruits in Protected Areas” will be held from September 24th to September 26th, 2020, and will consist of two parts: The first, theoretical part of the course will take place in the municipality of Knić on September 24th and 25th, 2020.

The course is intended for participants engaged in commercial production of vegetables and fruits in protected areas and will provide them with the latest knowledge on the advantages and effects of applying various forms of protected areas (tunnels, greenhouses, glasshouses, hail protection systems), characteristics of covering materials, irrigation and fertigation systems, cultivation technologies of vegetable and fruit species (seedlings, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries), as well as business planning, marketing, and sales of fresh vegetables and fruits.

During the course, participants will have the opportunity for practical application of acquired knowledge through relevant exercises, exchange of opinions and experiences during a roundtable discussion. Course materials, meals, and refreshments will be provided.

The second part of the course is a visit to producers on September 26th, 2020. During the visit, participants will be practically shown modern technologies in vegetable and fruit production. The facilities planned for the visit are exemplary protected areas. Transportation to the industry visits will be organized for all course participants.

The course “Intensive Production of Vegetables and Fruits in Protected Areas” represents an innovation in knowledge transfer in Serbia and will enable participants to directly apply the knowledge to their business.

The course instructors include professors from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade (Prof. Dr. Jasminka Milivojević, Prof. Dr. Đorđe Moravčević, Prof. Dr. Vlade Zarić, Doc. Dr. Tamara Paunović), company managers (Olivera Lukačević, BSc. Eng., Avital Company), leading experts in their fields with extensive experience and participation in successful projects.

Certificates of course attendance will be issued jointly by AgroNET and the Faculty of Agriculture.

Thanks to the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Project, which developed the course program based on research of your needs, the course is free of charge for participants. Participants only need to pay a fee of 6,000.00 dinars for the issuance and printing of the certificate.

The number of participants is limited to 20, and participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transportation to Knić, in case they come from distant cities. Priority in registration and guaranteed participation will be given to participants who apply first and pay the necessary fee.
